The Hiking Pooch

Family Picture inside one of the Bruce Caves

Over the summer, we went on a bunch of different day trips around Ontario. Most of them we were hiking and we got some really awesome pictures of Lewis. He was "hiking" and thank goodness for his strength, because on some of the hills, he was actually pulling me up!!

Lewis and His Bone

I tried to upload this video last night, but it just wouldn't work, finally got it done now though.

I think it's hilarious watching Lewis trying to pick up this bone that obviously too big to fit in his mouth!

My Ballerina

In August, we signed Mia up for Dance Camp at the new Premier Dance Academy in Waterloo. She got to try Jazz , Tap and Ballet...but she really liked and was good at the Ballet. She begged her dad to sign her up, so we did. She goes once a week and she's loving it!

This is her full little Ballerina outfit...you can't really tell, but the tights and shoes are pink and the rest is white....she's sooo cute!

Sick Days

My poor little Mia is not feeling good today, so she climbed into bed beside me. I couldn't resist taking this picture!

At the same time as Mia is sleeping in my bed, I'm trying to relax, but Lewis is driving me bonkers. I remembered that I had bought him some really big raw hide sticks purposfully for this week so that they could occupy him when I needed it. So I gave him one. I can't believe how big it is compared to him.

Last Time for a First Time

When I first had children, I often for myself asking "when will he walk?" "when will she talk?" "when will he be toilet trained?" and I was always happy when they achieved those milestones, and many others.

But when it's my youngest child I'm talking about...it's not that easy to be happy when she passes all her firsts. Afterall, this is the last time for the first time. There will be no more first words in the house, no more first steps. And now, no more first times for pee-ing in the big girl toilet.

Tonight Sydney, at the age of 2 years 6 months and 3 days...peed in the toilet for the first time. Though I am super excited about not having to change or wash diapers anymore (and I'm sure that's still a while off), it's a little sad. My baby is soon not going to be a baby anymore.

You always want your children to grow and learn and flourish, but when it's the youngest...it's harder to let go....harder to watch them grow up and learn new things.

So yes, I was happy to hear that Sydney had peed in the toilet and I congratulated her...but I also cried...cried for myself and for my little baby girl that is not quite a baby anymore.
