Horseback Riding week 4

Ethan is doing so well with his riding....I can't believe it. He always has to leaders now and they're trying to teach him to steer and to watch where he's going.

The Blue Mystery Blanket

I haven't posted about the Mystery Blanket in a while, so I thought I would update.

This picture was taken on October 14, 2008. I have 83 rows done and 40 to go.

I really hate to say this but Christmas is fast approaching and with the move I've just been so busy...plus, the blanket is too big now to easily take along with me. I'm afraid I might not get it done in time!

I hope the person is still happy when they get it, even if it is a little late!

GAS!!!!

For the Car!!!!

So I was driving somewhere last night and saw this:

First off: How long has it been since we've seen something below $1???

Secondly: How sad is it that I'm excited that gas is 99cents per liter?? What happened to .60 or .50 or even .40???

Stupid gas, but yay for getting to fill up the van for only $57!!!!!

I Love The World!

I recently saw this commercial for the first time on the Discovery Channel...apparently it's not new, but I sure love it. I watch it every chance I can.

Thanksgiving Monday!

We spent a nice family day together this holiday Monday, it was nice to not be going to stores or sports or anything!!

First we went on some trails near Puslinch Lake. It was actually called Puslinch Tract.

It took us about 45 minutes to walk the short route, but we had the three big kids walking and they had to stop and throw rocks in the water and check out nice fuzzy caterpillars.

Sydney, riding comfortably in the carrier on mommy's tummy, was most amused by all the dogs that walked past us. At the end we actually let her walk a little and she just loved it...was trying to show us everything around her.

In the afternoon, we went to Waterloo Park to look at the animals! Interestingly enough Sydney was most amazed by the squirrels. She was chasing them all over the place.

We were finally able to coax her over to the rabbit cage and she reached in and touched one...you should have heard the squealing that came from her!! She was so excited.

There was a nice couple who had some cut of carrots feeding the animals and they gave one to Syd to feed to the little cow. Syd, not knowing what was expected of her, ate the carrot!! When the couple were leaving the gave the rest of the carrots to us so the kids could feed the animals. Everyone enjoyed that!!!

After some explanation, Syd actually understood too and fed a carrot to the Llama!!

End of Season Recipe

I got this recipe in the Baden Banner of Baden Public School (the kids' school).

I thought it would be great to use all the late summer berries that are around still and enjoy a little more fruit before it gets ridiculously expensive in the winter time.

Apple Berry Muesli
Prep Time 10 min
Serves 6-8

2 cups old fashion rolled oats
2 cups low fat plain yogurt
1 cup milk
2 tbsp honey
2 large apples (unpeeled, grated)
juice of 1/2 lemon
1 cup berries
raisins or nuts for topping

1. In a medium bowl, combine oats, yogurt, milk and honey. Set aside.
2. Grate applease, leaving the skin on. Sprinkle with lemon juice to prevent browning. Add apples and berries to yogurt mixture. Gently mix together. Refrigerate overnight. Serve topped with nuts or raisins, if desired.

How neat is this??

I'm a KOPS!

Most of you know that when Sydney was 6 weeks old I joined TOPS (Taking Off Pounds Sensibly) with my mother in law, Alie.

Well, in mid-August I reached my goal weight and became a KOPS (Keeping Off Pounds Sensibly). A couple weeks ago I actually had my celebration at the chapter meeting and I would like to share some pictures!

Receiving my KOPS certificate and pin!

Horseback Riding weeks 2 & 3

Sorry about missing a week of horseback riding, but I got super busy and forgot to put the pictures up.

Last week, week 2, Ethan actually had to leaders walking with him. Seems the little dude won't hold onto the reins and so they had to have an extra person to watch and make sure he doesn't fall off.

This week, Ethan again had two leaders. I talked to Ashley (the instructor) after class and she told me that they were trying to teach him how to steer and how to hold the reins properly. I hoping this means that they're trying to get Ethan into the "blue" classes (the next level up) because that will give us more options for days and times that we sign him up for.

I have to say, finding the Developmental Riding Program at Pride Stables was the best thing that's happened to Ethan. He so looks forward to it and he enjoys it alot. He's a totally different boy when he's on his horse!!
